Christine Retirement Gin Case

I am appreciative of the opportunity to design a second retirement gift, this time for Christine. After collaborating with colleagues to brainstorm ideas, we opted to create a liquor housing inspired by Christine's final and highly successful product, the KA-6025 RF Filter.
Upon acquiring a bottle of gin and sourcing crystal glasses, the existing body was machined out to ensure the wood insert would fit. After carefully machining out the required features from the clamshell body, I proceeded to machine the layers of teak wood that would form the housing for the bottle and glasses. These four layers were then glued together to create a homogenous insert. The lid was then machined, incorporating recesses in the rear for the installation of small disc magnets. To achieve a food-safe finish with a nice semi-gloss appearance, the wood housing was sealed with Tung Oil.
For stability and an aesthetic touch, Aluminium feet were designed, machined and installed, allowing the unit to rest at a slight angle, ensuring the contents remain secure. The assembly was then put together, receiving a final cleaning before being presented to Christine. All in all, it was a very rewarding project to work on.
